Private Gardens

At our care home in Lytham St Annes, our private gardens offer a calm outdoor space where residents can enjoy fresh air, gentle activity and time with others in a serene setting. Thoughtfully laid out paths and seating areas create a peaceful backdrop for everyday moments, from a morning cup of tea outside to watching the seasons change. We know that time outdoors can lift mood and support well-being, so we make it easy for residents to step outside whenever the weather allows.

Safe Outdoor Spaces

Our private gardens are designed so that all of our residents can enjoy them. Paths are smooth and easy to navigate, with plenty of places to pause and sit as the day goes by. We also have a putting green that residents can enjoy at their own pace either alone or with friends.

We understand that safety is a priority for residents and families. Our garden is enclosed and clearly laid out, helping residents feel secure while still giving a sense of space. Our seating areas are positioned so that staff can provide support when needed, but still allow residents to feel independent.

Purpose-Built For Every Day Enjoyment

Our team uses the private gardens as an extension of daily life at Windmill Lodge. When the weather permits, residents often choose to sit outside with a newspaper, chat with friends or take part in light outdoor activities. Daily gardening tasks, tabletop planting or watering pots are available to our green-fingered residents. These small moments help residents feel involved and give them a sense of purpose.

We also make the most of the gardens for seasonal events and special occasions. Afternoon tea outside, small garden parties or outdoor entertainment are common examples of what residents can expect during the summer. For residents living with dementia, familiar sights and sounds outdoors can be especially comforting, so we encourage gentle time in the garden when it feels right for them. Throughout the year, we look for opportunities to bring the benefits of nature into everyday routines at our care home in Lytham St Annes.

Private Garden FAQs

Residents with limited mobility are supported to use the garden wherever possible. Paths are suitable for walking aids and wheelchairs, and there is seating at regular points, so even a short time outdoors can be comfortable and manageable.

We use the garden for a range of activities when conditions allow, from quiet one-to-one time outside to small group sessions and seasonal events. Residents can choose whether to join in or simply enjoy being outdoors while watching what is happening around them.

Having the opportunity to get some fresh air, appreciate and engage with nature or participate in outdoor activities, offers mental and physical benefits like lowering stress and anxiety, enhancing overall mood, cognitive function, cardiovascular health, balance and muscle strength.
