We understand that moving into a care home is a significant step, requiring a lot of thought and consideration to ensure you make the right for you. We are here to answer any questions raised along the way, as we believe it is best to be well-informed about all available options.

Therefore, we have provided answers to some of the most FAQs we receive from both residents and their loved ones. We hope these help answer some of the questions you may have to make your journey as smooth as possible. 

If our FAQs don’t answer all your questions, you are always welcome to give the Lodge a call and speak to one of our team members for more information.

Prices vary for each individual and their specific needs identified in the needs assessment prior to moving into the Lodge. The final price is dependent on several factors including care services, length of stay and room type.

Such factors and weekly fees will all be discussed and agreed with residents, loved ones and the Home Manager before moving in.

The weekly fee covers the cost of the care services and support you receive, tailored to each individual and their specific requirements. This includes a variety of daily activities & outings, use of all in-house facilities, bedroom with ensuite wet room, meals & drinks, laundry, wash & blow-dry, wireless internet connection and a flat-screen TV in both the lounge & bedroom.

Although the weekly fee covers all essential care and support, there are a few extra home comforts you can receive for an additional cost, if you so wish. This includes hair colouring & perms and selected personal items such as flowers, stationery, some snacks & alcoholic beverages, toiletries, clothing, dry cleaning and a personal private telephone line in your room.

Although all our rooms are well-equipped with high-quality furnishings, we encourage residents to bring meaningful keepsakes to decorate and personalise the room, making the home their own.

When you first move in, we like to get to know each individual; from your line of work to your favourite past times, to make sure we provide activities that you’ll enjoy. Our Activities & Wellbeing teams encourage and support residents in continuing their favourite hobbies and interests, whether they’re incorporated into our in-home activities, focussed on in our one-to-ones, or through visiting local clubs.

With a range of activities throughout the day, our Lodge provides the perfect opportunity to socialise with friends, get stuck into any hobbies or try something new!

Of course! Our menus are crafted with care and attention, tailored to residents’ preferences and cultural or dietary requirements.

We understand the importance of a nutritious and well-balanced diet. Therefore, we only use the finest seasonal produce available to make each meal the best it can be.

There is also a range of refreshments available, on request and you are welcome to invite loved ones to meals at the Lodge.

Yes. Free wireless internet connection is available throughout the home. We encourage and support residents to take advantage of this feature by using our computers, tablets or phones to stay connected with loved ones, catch-up with the latest news or research & reminisce.

Before moving into a care home, your local authority will provide a comprehensive assessment of the care services you require and your finances to evaluate whether you are eligible to receive financial assistance. Assessments may also be carried out during your stay if your needs alter. There are many options available for those requiring financial assistance, from NHS Continue Healthcare to NHS Funding Nursing Care.

We advise that you undergo your assessment to ensure you do not miss out on any financial support as well as receiving independent financial advice from someone who specialises in long term care. Many online sites provide information regarding financial assistance and care home funding such as Age UK and GOV UK.

Although we are able to provide information regarding funding, we are unable to offer financial advice. To ensure you are well-informed on all financial matters and options available to you, we recommend that all potential residents acquire professional, independent advice from an advisor who specialises in long term care.

As there are many financial options available, forward-thinking and advice are required. We also strongly advise that you undergo your assessment to ensure you do not miss out on any financial support. You can find a lot of information online regarding care fee funding on sites such as Age UK.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more people that you trust, known as attorneys, to help you make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf. An LPA is implemented if you have an illness or accident that prevents you from making your own decisions.

We suggest that all residents research and create a Lasting Power of Attorney before moving into the Lodge as it provides you with more control over your affairs in the future. If you do not have one, the Local Authority or NHS will have control over your care and financial matters.

It is important that the Lodge has access to all your information to ensure all your specific needs, requirements and preferences are met. 

In order to publish any pictures of you through social media or press releases, we require a photo consent form, signed by either you or your appointed attorney.
